KEE History

In 1995, with the company growing and overflowing our original condo,  we were able to  purchase the condo unit next door. After much renovation to the new unit, we were able to knock the walls down and combine both units.

In December 2005, Norton Colepaugh, the owner of I’ll Drive, Inc. another livery service here in New Milford, approached me about his pending retirement. We had worked with each other for many years, and while we were competitors, we grew to respect and appreciate one another. During those years, Nort and I had talked about the “what ifs” of merging our companies, but we never went any further then just talk. When Nort approached me in December 2005, it was obvious he was more then ready to retire and wanted to find a good home for his business. Over the next few weeks, Nort and I came to believe our two companies would fit perfectly together. We then placed the future of both companies in the hands of the CT DOT. We were told the application should be approved in 4 weeks. Well, those 4 weeks quickly turned into 4 months, but at last we did have the approval we needed from the State to move forward with our transaction. On June 29, 2006, I closed on the purchase of I’ll Drive.  The transition time of bringing both companies under one roof went incredibly smooth. Nort and I were right, it was a perfect fit.

Today, we find ourselves still writing history and growing for a better tomorrow.

Our first "official" office.
During the fall semester of 1986, at The King's College, Kirk Englund elected to take a Sales and Marketing course. For the final project, each student needed to create a company, develop a business plan, a marketing plan,  and make a sales presentation. At that time, Kirk was working part-time in the front desk/office area for a major hotel & conference center chain. It was during this employment that Kirk first became involved in the transportation industry. Part of his duties included arranging ground transportation for all guests arriving at the local airports. Kirk combined his work experience with his Sales and Marketing project, and began to develop his business as his final project.

Shortly after developing his "fictional" company, Kirk walked through an "open door" and fiction became reality on June 22, 1987 when KEE Enterprises, Inc. was officially registered and incorporated in the State of Connecticut.  Over the next 6 months, all of the necessary permits were obtained from the CT DOT and the ICC. In December 1987, Kirk purchased a used '87 Lincoln Town Car and opened for business.

After running KEE Limousine out of his bedroom for 2 years, Kirk moved his Lincoln and 2 newly purchased vans into a commercial condo unit in the spring of 1990.
